Prospecting Agent, Deal Progression, Revenue Agent: what changed in Sales Hub

Written by Perry Nalevka | Sep 16, 2026, 1:36:49 PM

"Winning deals starts before a rep enters the conversation and does not end until revenue is collected."

That's HubSpot's framing for the Sales Hub side of the Fall release, and it explains why the three announcements sit together: Prospecting Agent fills the pipeline, Deal Progression moves it, Revenue Agent collects it.

Prospecting Agent: five updates

On-demand sourcing: reps pull contacts directly from connected third-party data providers instead of waiting for the agent's recommendations. Email memory: the agent learns from rep edits and feedback so drafts need less revision over time. Brand voice per Play: outreach tone configured at the Play level. Company fit and intent scoring: companies are now scored on fit as well as intent. Rep-level performance reporting: a revamped tab shows leaders how each rep engages with agent recommendations.

The change in kind: Prospecting Agent used to be a one-way pipeline of suggestions. Now reps source, pick a Play and enrol on demand. 100 credits per lead recommendation, roughly a dollar.

Deal Progression: a rename, and a real upgrade

If you've used Smart Deal Progression, this is the same product with a new name. Say that plainly to your team so nobody thinks something was taken away.

What's new is scope. It now works across emails, calls and meetings, not just post-meeting CRM updates. It reads the full CRM record, past emails, notes, deal activity, contact history and meeting transcripts (HubSpot Notetaker, Zoom, Teams, Meet), identifies the active sales methodology, and surfaces next best actions, drafts replies, creates quotes, updates properties and keeps deal plans current between conversations. Reps get the guidance on the deal record and in their inbox.

Public beta, Sales Hub and Service Hub Professional and above, paid seat required. Core functionality and default property updates are included with the seat, no credits. Updates to custom properties or sales methodology properties route through Data Agent at 10 credits each.

The objection you'll hear

"I am not letting software update my deal records. My forecast is the one thing I control."

A VP of Sales is right to say it. If an agent moves stages on its own, her board deck becomes fiction.

The answer is graduated autonomy, and it's HubSpot's own recommended rollout: start with sign-off on everything, measure the approval rate, expand autonomy only on the specific actions that earned it. Week one, every suggestion needs her approval. At 30 days, review the trend together; actions approved 95 percent of the time can run on their own, the rest stay gated. Her hesitation becomes the configuration. Pair it with a credit cap set before the first run.

Capture the approval-rate baseline from week one. It's the cleanest maturity metric in the release and the one most teams forget to record.

Revenue Agent: AI accounts receivable

New, public beta, all paid plans. It monitors open invoices, sends personalised payment reminders, answers customer questions when they reply, and adapts as the conversation develops. Because it reads the full customer record, it can tell a routine late payer from a customer with an open support ticket, a contract change or a billing dispute, and in those cases it pauses outreach and escalates instead of sending reminder number four. For finance teams syncing invoices from QuickBooks, it works on top of that data.

The credit model is the thing to get right before finance hears about it: 500 credits (about $5) per invoice, charged when outreach starts, not when payment is collected. It's easy to assume success-based pricing here. It isn't. Decide which invoices the agent touches; turning it on across every $40 balance is how you spend real money chasing small change.

Who it's for: subscription and services businesses where late payment moves cash flow. If you invoice 20 clients who pay on time, skip it.

Before any of it goes live

Baselines: win rate, sales-cycle length, stage-to-stage conversion with the leaking stage named, meetings booked per rep per week, days sales outstanding if Revenue Agent is in scope, and approval rate per agent from day one. Find the leak first. If deals stall between demo and proposal, that stage is the target, not the whole funnel.

Then simulation mode, then the cap, then live.
